Ice Skating

The Palais des Sport holds a large indoor ice rink open to the public. There is a children's play area and a bar to get snacks and refreshments. Ice hockey matches are held once a week and the Morzine team, Les Pingouins, often play home games in the Ligue Magnus. During the winter months there is also an outside ice rink near the Tourist Information Centre. The Palais des Sports often holds live music throughout the peak winter season.

Swimming Pool

The Olympic sized outdoor heated swimming pool, located next to the Palais des Sports, is open throughout the summer months and provides a great day out on those scorching days. There is a separate children's pool and play area, and a flume for the older children – and adults!
Entry is about €5 for a day pass. Spectators also have to pay to enter the vicinities, usually about €2.60, but there is a cafe/ bar where you can relax and enjoy the scenery.

Tennis Courts

There are 10 outdoor hard and clay tennis courts in Morzine, located near the Palais des Sports, which can be booked on an hourly basis. Tennis courses are also available for all ages and there is a small cafe for light snacks and refreshments. The courts are only open during the summer months from 8am until 8pm.




 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Adventure Park
Swing between trees on ropes ride the aerial runways and climb the ladders at Morzine's adventure park.

Organised by the "Baron's Archers" at Montriond lake.

Avoriaz
A car free resort wuth wood clad apratmentws well above Morzine wiht daily street shows and many restaurants to choose from. Take the cabel car or drive up.  

Donkey Trekking
Try a donkey trek to a mountain farm and visit a working cheese farm.

Fantasticable
An aerial runway that spans two valleys with speeds of up to 90kmph.

Canyoning
Explore the riverbed without ropes or harnesses, slide down waterfalls and jump into deep. A wetsuit, helmet and harness are worn!

Canoeing and Kayaking
Canoe on Lake Montriond and the river Dranse.

Morzine Climbing
The "Pas de l'Ours" cliff has many routes. The "Touvière" has a beginners rock face and for experts on the Col du Corbier, at Arblay. The Morzine Palais des Sport has an indoor artificial climbing wall (04 50 79 08 43). Climbing maps are available at the Morzine Tourist Office. For a scramble the Via Ferrata for great routes up rock faces using ropes, rails, ladders, pegs and chains. A guide will be needed.

Morzine Fishing
The River Dranse in Morzine has good trout fishing along with the Jotty dam, Mines d'Or and Lake Montriond . A fishing permit is needed and available for the day the day, the week or 15 days or a month.

Fitness Centre
A fitness centre with weights room, sauna and Jacuzzi is available at the Sports Centre. (0 450 74 63 08).

Morzine Golf
Golf courses are at Les Gets and Avoriaz. The Morzine-Avoriaz golf course is a 9 hole 36 par course (04 50 74 01 11). There are also courses at Chamonix , Flaine, Megeve and the Royal Club at Evian.

Morzine Horse Riding
Horse riding is available at Montriond Le "Ranch de l'Avenir" and Morzine's Parc des Dereches. There are many mountain paths and lake side trails.

Hydro speeding
Surf down the rapids of the River Dranse on a big polystyrene float.

Ice Skating
Ice skating is available all year at the Morzine ice rink. The Morzine ice hocky team are well worth watching and play in the premier division. (04 50 79 08 43).

Morzine Mountain Biking
In the summer the ski lifts become bike lifts. There are 450km of rated mountain bike trails. The Pleney bubble goes to the top of Pleney with well marked beginner trails back into the centre of Morzine or over into Les Gets. The Super Morzine bubble and Zorre chairlifts across the valley from Morzine you work your way up into Avoriaz. From Avioraz follow the gentle trails winding down into the Lindarets valley through the Ardent until you reach Lake Montriond . From Les Gets take the Mont Chery bubble with views of Mt Blanc. Do always wear protective clothing; carry water and your mobile.

Morzine Paragliding
In Morzine there are 3 paragliding schools L'Éole Buissonnière, 04 50 75 90 96; Montagne et parapente, 04 50 74 71 01; School of  parapente des portes du Soleil, 04 50 75 76 39.

Road Cycling
Morzine is good for road riding around the beautiful alpine villages and has many high cols.

Morzine Skate boarding
Morzine has an excellent skate board park with rail, half pipe and ramp.

Morzine Skiing
The Portes du Soleil is “largest ski area in Europe,” with 208 interconnected lifts servicing 650 km in France and Switzerland . The Morzine ski season is from December to April.

The huge ski area of the Portes du Soleil offers skiing and snowboarding for all abilities. Morzine is a good family resort with traditional chalets, with plenty of beginner and intermediate slopes. The area has 650km of marked runs and said to be largest ski area in the world. Morzine and Avoriaz have nursery slopes next to the resort, intermediates have an excellent area in Morzine area and for advanced skiers there are 20 black runs around the Portes du Solei. Off piste skiing is available and there is the challenge of the 'Wall' at Avoriaz and the "Jean Vuarnet" World Cup Downhill run from the top of Les Hauts Forts down to Les Prodains. Snow parks are spread around the Ports du Soleil.

Morzine is relatively low and may not have snow and visitors may need to use the ski lifts Avoriaz (top station 2466m) which is connected to Morzine using the free regular buses. A cable car from Les Prodains, provides the quickest and direct link to Avoriaz. Alternatively, Super Morzine lift connects via a series of chairlift to Avoriaz.

Morzine is linked via lifts up the Pleney to Les Gets which is 6 km away by road.

Avoriaz is a top snowboarding destination. Free riders should check out the Hauts Forts area.

Les Portes du Soleil has a "hands-free" ski-pass. The pass can be read from a distance.

The main ski schools in Morzine are the ESF, (04 50 79 13 13); British Alpine Ski and Snowboarding School , (0450 74 78 590). Ski, board and boot hire is easily available in Morzine.

There are 4 cross country areas accessible from Morzine. The Manche Valley with 25 km of challenging circuits, the Morzine - Avoriaz sector with 47 km for all levels, Lake Montriond with 10km of Canadian-style runs, the Pléney - Chavannes sector with 8.5 km of forest runs. Access to the runs is free, but a cross country pass is available for use of ski lifts which provide access to these sectors.

Every Thursday through the winter Morzine has floodlit night skiing/boarding on the bottom of the Plenney.

Sledging takes place when the skiers have finished and goes down the Pleney.

Summer Sledging
Summer sledging is on the two man made runs on the Pleney massif reached via the Crusaz ski lift.

Swimming
Morzine has an outdoor Olympic size swimming pool set amongst lawns, a children's play area, volleyball, table tennis and a café. Swimming is also possible at the Lakes at Montriond and Les Gets.

Tennis
Near to the swimming complex are 10 hard tarmac tennis courts.

Water-skiing and Wakeboarding
Water-skiing and Wakeboarding are available at Lake Geneva .

White Water Rafting
The River Dranse is the second most popular White Water River in France .
