Avoriaz
Avoriaz sits perched above steep rock cliffs above Morzine. There are no cars in the village but there is a large car park at the edge of the village. Take the cable car or drive up.
Museum of mechanical music
A collection of mechanical music instruments from the music box to the dance organ. Les Gets. (04 50 79 85 75).
Lac du Montriond
In the winter take the 'A' navette bus from the centre of Morzine. At Montriond Lake there are mini electric cars for kids. Open every afternoon in July and August. There is also an area of the lake for swimming with lifeguard on duty.
The Morzine cheese dairy
View the Morzine cheese dairy and maturing cellars. Tomme, Reblochon and Abondance cheeses are produced. Route de la Plagne a Morzine. (04 50 79 12 39)
As well as the usual mountain summer and winter sporting activities Morzine has to offer, there are also plenty of attractions to visit and experience within Morzine and nearby areas for all ages.
Slate Workshop Visit
Slate mining in Morzine dates back two centuries and continues to be one of the last existing slate sites in France. Organised tours take place at La Falaise de la Vallée des Ardoisières during summer and winter months, where visitors can learn more about the history of the mines and the production techniques involved. Musée de la Musique Mécanique (Museum of Mechanical Music)
Situated in Les Gets, Le Musée de la Musique Mécanique is great for those interested in music with a difference. Visitors can discover the history of Association of Mechanics of Music Gets (AMMG), the museum and the restoration methods used today. Visit to Old Town Morzine
Discover the history of Morzine's Old Town under the covered market next to the Church, with an official guide from the region of Savoy who will reveal how the town has developed and changed over the centuries.
Lac Montriond
Just 15 minutes by car, Lac Montriond is perfect for a day out if you do not want to go too far. During the winter, the lake is frozen but provides stunning scenery if you are in the mood for a long walk – just remember to take a stick and walking boots with you! During the summer months, the lake is picturesque and the water turquoise – perfect for a dip on those scorching days. Canoes, rowing boats, donkey rides, and fishing equipment can be hired out if you fancy a little more activity. The lake has a supervised ‘mini lake' for children throughout summer and there are two cafe/ bars, one each end of the lake. Every year on the second Saturday of August the Feu De Lac Montriond is held celebrating the history of Montriond village. The lake has live music, craft and food stalls all day and when night falls an impressive firework display is put on cleverly timed to music.
Devils Bridge Gorge
Enjoy a guided tour around the infamous gorge where water has carved its way into the rocks over a number of years, creating a magnificent sight. Discover the power of erosion and witness nature at its finest with these spectacular views just 30 minutes away from Morzine.
Aquaparc
A fun day out for children of all ages – even adults! This all weather aqua fun park in nearby Switzerland has three areas of all weather undercover excitement; Captain Kids Land, Jungle Land, and Paradise Land, all complete with flumes, slides, waterfalls, and play areas.

Historical Towns – Annecy, Yvoire
If you are an avid shopper, Annecy is the place for you and just an hour and 20 minutes away from Morzine. With a large and varied shopping district, there is something for everyone. If shopping isn't your thing there is a beautiful lake where you can relax, take a boat ride or go for a refreshing swim.
Yvoire is a beautiful medieval ancient fishing village situated on the ‘little lake' of Lake Geneva. Its stunning surroundings are made up of historical buildings and architecture, including a quaint church, and remnants of the chateau, all with outstanding views of the lake. With over 700 years of history, Yvoire is now a popular tourist destination with cafes, artisans, and a small harbour. Voted one of the most beautiful villages in France, it provides the perfect relaxing day out.
Geneva
Situated in the French-speaking part of Switzerland and just one hour and ten minutes away from Morzine, Geneva city is surrounded by beautiful mountains – the Alps and the Jura. Geneva Lake is stunning and during the summer months is full of swimmers and jet skiers. A beach is also situated on the lakefront and popular amongst locals and tourists. A well known symbol of the lake is the Jet d'eau (water fountain) which propels over 500 litres of water per second to a height of 140m.
Other must-see world renowned tourist sites include Saint Peter's Cathedral, Flower Clock, Place Neuve, United Nations Building, Carouge, and Place du Bourg-de-Four.
